Brick Man Found Unconscious Next To Running Car

Two charged with drunken driving Thursday night

A Brick Township man was found passed out in the street next to his running minivan Thursday night, police said.

Edward Breese, 59, was found unconscious on Allenwood Road near Route 34 around 8:45 p.m. Thursday lying near his 2005 Ford Freestar, which was still running, said Sgt. Erik Ertle.

Breese was charged with driving while intoxicated by Patrolman Adam Cox and released to a family member, Ertle said.

A 25 year-old Ocean Township man also was charged Thursday night with drunken driving after crashing into a utility pole on Belmar Boulevard, Ertle said.

James Gomolka was traveling east on Belmar Boulevard near the boundary with Howell Township when he lost control of his 2004 Toyota Camry and struck the pole, snapping it in two, Ertle said.

Gomolka, who was charged with driving while intoxicated, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, by Howell Township First Aid for a non-life threatening laceration on his head, Ertle said.
