Brush Fire Shuts Portion Of Belmar Boulevard

Fire near Howell boundary closes east/west traffic in north Wall

A brush fire that started in the middle of the night has shuttered a portion of Belmar Boulevard while crews fight the blaze, police said.

The Glendola Fire Departmet responded to 5115 Belmar Boulevard around 3:45 a.m., but the fire was difficult to get to and additional fire companies were called in, Sgt. Steven Wolter said.

South Wall Fire Company, West Belmar Fire Company, Squankum Fire Company, from Howell, the New Jersey State Forest Fire Service and the Wall Fire Bureau also responded, Wolter said.

A fire tanker relay has been set up on Belmar Boulevard in the area. The road was closed from Route 34 to the Howell boundary until morning, Wolter said.
