Burglary Suspect Also Wanted By Feds

Charged with burglary, Asbury Park man ID'd as federal fugitive

An Asbury Park man arrested and charged in connection with a burglary in town is also wanted by federal authorities, police said Wednesday.

, 28, who was charged in connection with a burglary on Dovetail Court home. Garcia was charged and taken to the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.

While there, Garcia was fingerprinted as part of the intake process. Those prints identified him as wanted by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for deportation violations, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said.

The ICE is the chief investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security.

The Dovetail Court burglary -- -- occurred on Sept. 30.

Garcia was charged with one count of third degree burglary and one count of third degree theft, Pomphrey said.

Information provided by several witnesses led to Garcia's arrest, Pomphrey said. The Neptune City Police Department also assisted.

Police are also seeking a second person believed to be Garcia's accomplice, Pomphrey has said.
