Checkpoint Nets Drunken Drivers

Task force ran DWI checkpoint on Route 34 Friday

The Monmouth County DWI Task Force arrested and charged five people with drunken driving during a checkpoint held on Route 34 overnight Friday, authorities said.

The task force ran the checkpoint from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the state highway near Paynters Road.

Police report the following arrests:

  • Joseph W. Dziedzic, 23, of Scotch Plains, was charged with driving while intoxicated by Patrolman Miles Shanklin.
  • Kellen Alves, 29, of East Brunswick, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Det. Sean O'Halloran was the arresting officer.
  • Eileen F. Mcgrath, 23, of Hazlet was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by Patrolman Jason Costantini.
  • Graehme A. Field, 22, of Rhode Island was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana by Det. Heath Bono.
  • Alfred Pfister, 36, of Wayside was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by Patrolman Miles Shanklin.
