Delayed Halloween Festivities Scheduled Monday

Postponed trick-or-treating Monday afternoon

Halloween trick-or-treating, delayed by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, is scheduled to take place Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Festivities will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. But some hazards still exist out there, so parents should accompany children and watch out for downed utility lines, trees, and other debris that are still in the roads and walkways, police said.

Jersey Central Power & Light is reporting that approximately 7,000 Wall Township customers are still without power. If you have not done so already, please report power outages directly to JCP&L. Call 1-888-544-4877.

Wall Township residents who do not have friends or family with whom they can stay should report to the Wall Township Police Department reception center, which will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wall Township residents will register and the police will make arrangements for people to be transported to a shelter. Anyone going to a shelter must be picked up by county transportation, police said.
