Police: Road, Intersection Closures Dwindling Slowly

TUESDAY UPDATE: As crews work to clear branches, trees and other debris from Hurricane Irene, numerous road and intersection closures are in still in effect Tuesday, police said.

Roads reopened to all traffic:

• Allenwood-Lakewood Road
• Hospital Road
• Rooute 33 at Wyckoff Road

Roads closed or have traffic detours:

• Metedeconk Road closed at Allenwood-Lakewood Road.
• Gully Road northbound detoured onto Remsen Mill Road.
• Old Mill Road closed between Ocean Road and West Chicago Blvd.
• Lakewood Road closed between Algonkin Trail and Lenape Trail.
• Asbury Road closed at the Collingwood Circle.
• Route 35 at Ocean Road.  Traffic light out.  Traffic detoured onto Route 35.

UPDATE 9:30 p.m. Monday: Police report that Hospital Road and Allenwood-Lakewood Road are now open.

Metedeconk Road remains closed at Allenwood-Lakewood Road, because of a large tree across the road, Sgt. Ken Brown said.

As crews work to clear branches, trees and other debris from Hurricane Irene, numerous road and intersection closures are in still in effect Monday, police said.

Drivers should expect traffic delays and detours throughout town and should not remove traffic cones from affected areas, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said.

The following bridges and intersections are closed as of noon Monday:

Bridges:

• Hospital Road - Pending bridge inspection by Monmouth County
• Allenwood-Lakewood Road at Brice Park Bridge - Pending bridge inspection and clean up by Monmouth County

Intersections:

• Route 138 at New Bedford Road
• Route 35 at Ocean Road
• Belmar Boulevard at New Bedford Road
• Route 34 at Painters Road
• Route 34 at Lakewood Road
• Route 35 at Lakewood Road
• Route 35 at Sea Girt Avenue
• Route 70 at Morningstar
• Gully Road at Brighton
• West Hurley Pond Road at Martin Road
• Asbury Road at the Howell boundary
