Dump Truck Rolls Over In Wyckoff Road Accident Friday Night

No one seriously hurt in the mishap.

The intersection of Route 33 and Wyckoff Road was shut down for several hours on Friday night after a dump truck filled with asphalt rolled over in a collision with an SUV, authorities said.

No one was seriously injured in the collision, which happened around 8:30 p.m., according to a release from Sgt. Frank Lancellotti.

The driver of the SUV, Damys Chavarria Monge, 45, of Howell, and his passenger, Felisa Avendano, 34, of Asbury Park, were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, by Wall Township First Aid and MONOC paramedics, Lancellotti said.

The driver of the dump truck, Arlen Fernandez, 43, of Bayville was unharmed, Lancellotti said.

The dump truck was heading north on Wyckoff Road through the intersection when Avendano’s Ford Explorer, heading east on Route 33, went through a red light, Lancellotti said.

Fernandez swerved in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid hitting the Explorer and landed on its side, Lancellotti said.

The intersection was shut down while crews cleaned up the asphalt and removed the vehicles. The intersection reopened around 11:00 p.m., Lancellotti said.

Township police were assisted by the Tinton Falls Police Department and the Glendola Fire Department. Patrolman Chris Gallagher is the investigating officer, Lancellotti said.
