Elderly Pedestrian Hit By Van Crossing Route 35
Woman, 75, taken to hospital with minor injuries
An elderly woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being struck by a car on Route 35 Monday afternoon, police said.
Maureen Skrapits, 75, of Wall was struck around 2:00 p.m. while crossing Route 35 at Warren Avenue, Sgt. Erik Ertle said in a release.
Skrapits was walking east on Warren Ave. and was crossing Route 35 when she was struck by a car driven by John Washington Jr., 65, of Neptune, who was making a right turn on a red light in a 2009 Ford van onto southbound Route 35 from Warren Avenue east, Ertle said.

Skrapits was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, by Wall EMS for non-life threatening injuries to her right arm and left leg. Washington was cited for careless driving, Ertle said.
Patrolman Daniel Donlon is the investigating officer, Ertle said.
