Five Arrested Overnight Sunday

Part of an overall effort to combat drunken driving, police say

Wall Police arrested five area residents in separate traffic stops overnight Sunday, police said.

The arrests were made between about 10 p.m. Sunday and 12:15 a.m. Monday, and were a part of an overall effort to combat drunken driving, Sgt. Chad Clark said.

Robbi L. Lehman, 41, of Wall was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 35 by Patrolman Miles Shanklin. Lehman was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.

Byron K. Young Jr., 24, of Neptune, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop on Route 33/34 near Kelly Lane. Young was processed and released on bail. Patrolman Frank Kuhl was the arresting officer, Clark said.

Kevin E. Samson, 23, of Manasquan, was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after a traffic stop on Ocean Road, Clark said.

John M. Zimmerman, 22, of Jackson, was arrested and charged by Patrolman Miles Shanklin with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 138 near Route 34. Zimmerman was charged and released, Clark said.

Rachelle L. White, 27, of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by Sgt. Chad Clark following a stop on Monmouth Boulevard in the area of Johnson Street.

White was also charged with reckless driving, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle and failure to maintain a lane. He was released with summonses, Clark said.
