Gun Charges For Man Carrying Loaded .38 in Shopping Center

Police called to the Brooke 35 shopping center midday Monday.

An out-of-state man was arrested on gun charges after he was seen carrying a loaded revolver in a shopping plaza, police said.

Howard Forbes, 44, of Seattle, Wash., was arrested and charged around 1:37 p.m. Monday with unlawful possession of a gun after police were called to the Brook 35 shopping center on Route 35 near Sea Girt Avenue for reports of a suspicious person. Forbes was found with a loaded .38 Ruger, Sgt. Patrick Connor said.

Forbes was taken for evaluation to crisis intervention at Jersey  Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township, before being transferred to Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $10,000 bail, Conner said.
