Heroin Possession Among Charges In Weekend Busts

A trio of people arrested on various charges over the weekend, police say.

A Point Pleasant woman was arrested and charged with heroin possession and other charges following a traffic stop on Route 71 around 8:36 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Jacquielin R. Smith, 28, was arrested and charged with heroin possession, possession of a hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia following the stop near Woodland Ave., Sgt. Steven Wolter said. Patrolman Mike Hurden was the arresting officer.

Giancalrol B. Ligotti, 24, of Staten Island, N.Y. was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 71 around 11:29 p.m. Saturday. Ligotti also was charged with impersonating a police officer, possession of prescription medications without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, Wolter said. Patrolman Mike Hurden was the arresting officer.

Michael R. Gigantino, 27, of Matawan, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 35 around 2:24 a.m. Sunday. Gigantino also was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana during the stop near Sea Girt Avenue, Wolter said. Gigantino’s vehicle was impounded as a result. Patrolman Mike Hurden was the arresting officer, Wolter said.
