Local Residents Charged in String of Burglaries

Trio also face drug charges

A trio of local residents made their initial appearances before Superior Court Judge John G. Colannino this week on charges that they participated in recent Wall Township burglaries.

Damian Davis, 29 of Lake Como and Jessica Franco, 21, of Wall are accused of taking part in three residential break-ins during November and December while Chelsey Cappa, 19, of Wall is accused of being involved in two of the burglaries.

after being spotted by Wall police, who said they knew they were wanted on burglary warrants. Authorities said they broke into a home on 6th Avenue on Dec. 20, a unit on Route 71 on Nov. 2 and a residence on Ramshorn Drive on Nov. 1.

Cappa, meanwhile, allegedly participated in the 6th Avenue and Ramshorn Drive burglaries, court documents state.

Authorities charge Davis and Cappa with "forcibly" entering the 6th Avenue home while Franco acted as a driver and lookout. While there, the trio stole a $430 laptop and $50 in change, according to court documents.

Davis and Franco allegedly conspired to break into the Route 71 unit and steal property, authorities said. Additionally, Davis is accused of carrying out the Ramshorn Drive burglary, which he planned with Cappa and Franco, police said.

Davis was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of theft, one count of conspiracy to commit burglary, one count of conspiracy to commit theft and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin). He was jailed at the Monmouth Correctional Institute in default of $61,000 bail.

Franco was charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit theft, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin and crack cocaine). She was jailed in default of $72,000 bail.   

Cappa was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary and theft and was held on $60,000 bail, with a 10 percent option.

However, the recent burglary charges are not the only criminal complaints Cappa faces.

She was arrested Dec. 20 by Bradley Beach officers on charges of conspiring with Kharaan Ferreira, 32, to burglarize an Ocean Park Avenue home.

Court documents state Cappa acted as a lookout while Ferreira tried to break into the home, with their motive being the theft of items they could sell for drug money. 

The pair allegedly fled when confronted by a passerby, and Cappa took refuge in a Park Place Avenue room that Ferreira had previously been evicted from, court documents state. 

Additionally, Cappa was found to be in possession of a pipe containing crack residue and a syringe with heroin residue, police said.

Cappa was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit theft, burglary, hindering her own apprehension, trespassing, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia in the Bradley Beach arrest.
