Ocean County Juvenile Charged With Killing Squirrel With Skateboard

A 16-year-old teen has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after he killed a squirrel with a skateboard at Gille Park, Lacey Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer John Simonson responded to a report at 3:47 p.m. on April 25 of a male juvenile being chased by a group of juveniles, the chief said.

Investigation by Officer Simonson indicated that the male being chased had just purposely killed a gray squirrel with a skateboard, Paprota said.

The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and charges have been forwarded to the juvenile court for the cruelty, the chief said.

He should get community service going around the county picking up road kill.

And what if other teens now start running over squirrels with THEIR skateboards...thinking it's cool to do so? If the teen killed the squirrel on purpose, he should be reprimanded in some way. Lack of respect and empathy for the pain endured by that squirrel can one day stretch out to lack of respect for any living being ...including humans.

Hey look at the school mass killings that have followed Columbine. It has been non stop so I can kind of see Rita's point. Humans are easily influenced.

This is just the beginning. He should be dealt with now before he kills other animals o God forbid a human being
