Middletown Man To Stand Trial on Cocaine Dealing Charges

A Red Bank and Atlantic Highlands man are also named in the 21-count indictment handed up by a grand jury in Freehold.

A grand jury has voted to indict a Middletown man on charges he sold cocaine to undercover detective from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in Middletown, Wall and Keyport in November,  2011. 

Robert Jeffcoat, 32, of Middletown Avenue will stand trial on a total of 11 counts of illegal drug possession, intent to distribute, and distribution in the three towns. 

Jeffcoat is accused of dealing cocaine to an officer identified in court documents with the same initials in Middletown on Nov. 7, 2011 and again two weeks later in Wall Township. On November 30 of that year he was charged with selling cocaine to the within 500 feet of the Cedar Street public park in Keyport.

Aaron Butts, 27, of River Street in Red Bank was also named in the indictment. He faces charges he dealt cocaine to an undercover county law officer on April 4, 2012 in Middletown; and the next day, in Keansburg; and again a week later in Middletown.

Kevin Allen, 30, of Powell Ave. in Atlantic Highlands, also named in the indictment, will answer to charges of illegal cocaine possession on Jan. 30, 2013 in Atlantic Highlands.

The October 8th indictment by the Superior Court grand jury is merely a formal charge, not a conviction. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
