MONOC Now has Mobile Medical Lab Available

MONOC Mobile Health Services has recently unveiled a state of the art mobile medical simulation lab for the training of Emergency Medical Service providers throughout New Jersey.

In order to most effectively create high fidelity simulations, the proper location for this type of education is inside a fully equipped and operational ambulance where these clinicians practice their trade every day, according to a prepared statement from MONOC.

"Participants will utilize high fidelity computerized life-like human simulation manikins, in real life scenarios, in a controlled setting to allow for safe reproducible education sessions," according to MONOC.

"Students will have hands-on practice to improve their physical skills along with problem-solving and teamwork skills. Guiding the experience will be highly trained facilitators who are educated to work with adult learners in a simulated teaching environment.  

"These facilitators will not only lead students through pre-determined scenarios, but will also lead the group in formal debriefings utilizing an onboard video and audio recording system to enhance understanding and ensure competencies."  

Vince Robbins, MONOC’s President and CEO said, “This mobile simulation lab is the first of its kind in New Jersey and one of only a handful throughout the country. Quality education for our EMS providers equates to quality patient care for the citizens of New Jersey.” 

MONOC’s mobile simulation lab will be available to both volunteer and paid EMS agencies throughout the state as well as EMT and Paramedic educational programs for their original and continuing educational needs.

MONOC Mobile Health Services is a non-profit hospital cooperative consisting of 15 acute care hospitals located throughout New Jersey. Formed in 1978 MONOC’s mission is to improve health care and reduce costs.

MONOC Mobile Health Services is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) and employs over 730 employees and operates a fleet of over 100 ambulances.

Additionally, MONOC operates a  Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) and Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited education department which is the largest EMS education department in New Jersey providing original and continuing medical education to EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, Police Officers, Fire Fighters and the general public.  Coordinating all of MONOC’s communications is an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) 24/7 state of the art 9-1-1 dispatch center which handled over 156,000 requests for service in 2013
