NY Man Arrested On Weapons Charges Following Traffic Stop

Parcel of drunken driving charges among arrests over the weekend

A New York man was charged with weapons possession following a traffic stop on Route 34 Saturday afternoon, police said.

John Morea, 23 of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon when he was found to have a silver pistol marked “9mm,’’ during a traffic stop on Route 34 around 2:30 p.m., Sgt. Heath Bono said.

The pistol is believed to be a movie prop, but it appears real and had powder residue on it as if it had been recently fired, Bono said.   Morea was released after posting $82,000 bail, Bono said.

Anthony Montedoro, 38, of Neptune City was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident early morning Sunday after being detained by Neptune Police in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune, Bono said.

Montedoro fled the scene of an earlier accident at the intersection of Monmouth and Belmar boulevards. He was also charged with operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle because he had fake Indiana license plates on the 2000 Chevy Blazer he was driving, Bono said.

Also arrested over the weekend:

Brian Chase, 22, of New York, was arrested and charged with drug possession following a traffic stop on Route 34 on Saturday around 7:45 p.m., Bono said.

Andrew Capizzo, 22, of New York, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 138 around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Bono said.

Daniel Shlenger, 44, of Wall, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 35 around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Bono said.

Graciliano Oxte, 49, of Wall, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop  on Route 138 around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, Bono said.
