Brief foot chase nets Asbury Park man slew of charges

An Asbury Park man was arrested on a slew of charges after running away during a traffic stop on Route 35 Tuesday night, police said.

Richard M. Thomas Jr., 26, was caught by Patrolman Chris Lisewski after a brief foot chase around 8:45 p.m., according to a release from the Wall Township Police Department.

Thomas was charged with a parole violation warrant, obstruction, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of cocaine, the release says.

Thomas is being held at the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of bail, the release says. Bail amount was unavailable early Thursday.

Also arrested was Starquasha M. Jones, 19, of Asbury Park. Jones was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of cocaine, according to the release.
