Passenger Suffers 'Significant' Injuries In Atlantic Avenue Crash

One person was pinned in a car and had to be extricated by emergency workers following a crash on Atlantic Avenue Tuesday, authorities said.

Police said the victim, the sole passenger in the car, suffered significant injuries in the 7:30 p.m. crash and was freed from the wreckage by South Wall Fire & Rescue. Police declined to identify the person, who was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township, by Wall Community First Aid Squad, according to Sgt. Eric Olsen.

The driver, Richard Davis, 82, of Wall, suffered minor injuries. Davis also was taken to the hospital by Wall Community First Aid.

Davis lost control of his car and struck a guardrail near Kessler’s Pond. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Atlantic Avenue was closed for about two hours following the crash, Olsen said.
