Point Borough Man Facing More Charges After Alleged Bank Robbery

Daniel Skokos also faces drug charges filed by Wall police

A Point Borough man originally charged with robbing a bank in Neptune City is now facing additional charges including drug possession and resisting arrest stemming from his arrest in Wall Township, according to Monmouth County authorities.

, 28, has been charged by the Wall police department with hindering prosecution, possession of a hypodermic needle and use of drug paraphernalia, according to the Monmouth County Jail website.

The police story on Skokos starts with him allegedly robbing cash from Central Jersey Bank, 300 West Sylvania Avenue, Neptune City by handing a note with a threat to a bank teller on April 12, said Thomas Huth, an assistant Monmouth County prosecutor. Police got a call about the incident at 12:05 p.m. that day.

The teller was not physically harmed, Huth said.

Huth said he cannot disclose the amount of money he allegedly stole or what the note specifically said.

Police did not find Skokos at his last known address on the 1100 block of Arnold Avenue in Point Borough, so they searched local motels and hotels and found him at the Sea Girt Motor Lodge, Route 35, Wall, at about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to authorities.

Detectives and officers from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's office and the Neptune City and Wall police departments worked together on the investigation and arrest.

Skokos is being held in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold on $100,000 bail regarding the Neptune charges and an additional $20,000 bail regarding the Wall charges, for a total of $120,000, according to the jail website. Bail was set by Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mellaci.
