Police: No Bomb Threat at 'Anti-Obama' Clothing Store

Authorities say practical joke behind morning investigation at Skuby & Co. in Spring Lake

Police on Wednesday quelled rumors of a purported bomb threat against a Spring Lake clothing store owner who has come under fire for a window display featuring President Barack Obama as a witch doctor.

Early Wednesday morning police investigated Skuby & Co. clothing store on Third Avenue and determined a phone call made to the store's owner, Bill Skuby, was nothing more than a practical joke from one of his friends, Spring Lake Police Chief Edward Kerr said.

Skuby said he's been fielding death threats and unfairly labeled a racist after a media firestorm erupted Tuesday morning surrounding his anti-Obama window display, which, he says, is nothing more than a political Halloween decoration.

Police and the Spring Lake Fire Department responded to the scene at roughly 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, and investigators determined there was no credible threat, Kerr said.

"It turns out it was a friend of the store owner," Kerr said.

Skuby notified police immediately after receiving a phone call in which the voice on the other end told him: "Check your store," Kerr said.

The friend later told investigators that he assumed Skuby recognized his voice and knew it was a ruse, Kerr said.

"It was just a bad joke," Kerr said.

No criminal charges were filed during the investigation, Kerr said.

Sgt. Steve Blecki and Patrolman Mike Palmer were the first on scene, Kerr said.

Portraying the President of the United States as an African witch doctor with a bone through his nose isn't racist?

He was calling Obamacare voodoo medicine. How else could he have done that without using words? Or is just using the term "voodoo" racist?

Beach_N8iv, Explain to me what you think is racist here. I'm not trying to be a smartass, I just don't see it.

Calling Obama "articulate" is racist. Mentioning "Chicago" and Obama in the same sentence is racist. The polls that show Romney gaining are racist. The Libs are having a conniption because the "black messiah" (Its not racist because a black guy said it) has shown his true colors. And anytime anyone cries "Racist!"...remind them of Obamas "typical white person" remark. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2008/03/obama-talks-mor/

"Barack the magic negro". I didn't call him that. A guy named David Ehrenstein did. He is a black Hollywood critic. He used it to describe Obama in 2007 and 2008. It seems there was this "magic negro" in some old Hollywood movies who would pop up and help people [white]. Kind of like a fairy godmother or good angel type character. So, is Ehrenstein a racist? Am I a racist because I mention what this guy said? It gets a bit much, doesn't it? BTW, even the godfather of race baiting, Al Sharpton, called him a "magic negro". Or, is this like the "N" word. I'm not allowed to talk about it?
