Asbury Park woman arrested on theft charges

Police have arrested the woman who stole money from the a tip jar at the Route 35 Applebee's restaurant, authorities said Friday.

Deborah A. Jackson, 42, of Second Avenue in  Asbury Park was arrested and charged with one count of theft, according to Lt. Walter Pomphrey.

Jackson was released pending a municipal court hearing, Pomphrey said.

Police are asking for help identifying a woman who earlier this month entered the Applebee's restaurant on Route 35 and stole an unknown amount of money from an employee tip jar.

Surveillance video released by the police shows a woman entering the take out area of the restaurant on May 7 around 7:30 p.m. and removing cash from tip jar on the counter.

Police said the woman appears to be wearing work-type pants and could be wearing a hair net.

Police encourage anyone who has information about the incident to call the Wall Township Detective Division at (732) 449-4800 or Det. Heath Bono at ext. 1126.
