Police: Suspect In Numerous Home Burglaries Arrested

A Farmingdale man believed to be behind a string of residential burglaries in Wall Township was arrested over the weekend after a long investigation, authorities said.

Matthew S. Vandunk, 26, was charged with burglary and theft from a home on Shark River Station Road and he is a suspect in numerous other burglaries in the township. Additional charges are pending, said Lt. Chris Tango said.

Vandunk is normally seen walking through a neighborhood just prior to burglary reports. Vandunk knocks on the doors of prospective homes, Tango said, and if someone is home, Vandunk will say he is looking for a lost dog or puppy and make small talk.
