4 p.m. UPDATE: Allenwood Circle Reopened At Route 34

Accident reportedly took down a utility pole, closing all southbound lanes at the Allenwood Circle

An early morning accident that took down a utility pole on southbound Route 34 in the area of the Allenwood Circle backed up traffic on the state highway Thursday morning but was cleared for evening rush hour.

At 4 p.m., the DOT reported that the pole has been removed. All lanes are open.

At 9 a.m. traffic in both southbound lanes was stop and go, mainly stop, up to Hurleys Pond Road.

At 11:30 a.m., the state Department of Transportation reported that traffic is still being diverted around the circle. Backups are expected.

At 2:00 p.m. the DOT reported that the right lane is open, with traffic funneling from two lanes. Expect traffic to be slow.

An accident that occurred before 3 a.m. downed a utility pole across the circle. All southbound lanes are closed and traffic is being detoured through the adjoining neighborhood, according to the Department of Transportation.
