Sharp-Eyed Victim Solves His Own Crime

Point Pleasant man spies his own stolen trailer, calls cops

A sharp-eyed crime victim spotted what he thought was his stolen trailer being driven around the township and a Matawan man is now charged with possession of stolen property, police said Monday.

Christopher R. Bracht, 32, of Matawan, was arrested and charged on Sunday with posession of stolen property and having a fake license plate when he was spotted by Patrick Ippolito, of Point Pleasant, driving on Ramshorn Drive towing a trailer stolen from Ippolito in September.

Ippolito followed Bracht and called the police, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. A preliminary investigation by Patrolman Miles Shanklin resulted in the arrest, Lancellotti said.
