Toms River Woman Assaults Officer

Assault, drunken driving charges stemming from two-car crash

A Toms River woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving and kicking a police officer following a crash in Wall at routes 35 and 70 Thursday afternoon, police said.

Allyson Forbess, 37, of Toms River, was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and assault after she kicked an officer on the scene of a two-vehicle rear-end crash around 1:22 p.m., Sgt. Kenneth Brown said.

There were no injuries in the crash, Brown said.

Forbess was also charged with refusal to submit samples of her breath and her vehicle was impounded. 

Patrolman Steve Rydinsky was the arresting officer, with assistance from Patrolman Michael Hurden, Brown said.
