Township Woman Charged In Hit-And-Run Collision

Also charged with drunken driving following Route 71 collision

A township woman was arrested and charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident Monday following a hit-and-run collision, police said.

Barbara Sutton, 52, of West Belmar, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure  to maintain a lane and reckless driving following a collision at Route 71 and Second Avenue around noon Monday, Sgt. Heath Bono said.

Details of the accident were not released, but Bono said Sutton was found on J Street not far from the accident scene and charged.
