UPDATE: Tractor-Trailer Overturns on Route 34

Truck in median between north- and south-bound lanes of state highway

A MAC truck skidded and slid into the center median of Route 34 afternoon Monday when the driver tried to stop for the traffic light at Allenwood Road, police said. No one was injured.

Shortly before 2 p.m. the operator of the truck, John Tarter, 46, of Red Bank, tried to stop for a red light at the busy intersection while traveling southbound on Route 34. The truck, registered to Future Sanitation of Farmingdale, slid on the rain-soaked road and overturned in the median, Sgt. Kenneth Brown Jr. said.

The truck spilled a small amount of fluid on the road. The Wall Township Office of Emergency Management as well as the state Department of Transportation responded to aid cleanup, Brown said.

Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction for about two hours, Brown said.

Wall Township EMS and Glendola Fire Department also responded, Brown said.
