Wall Man Charged With Heroin Possession

Arrest made following traffic stop

A township man was arrested and charged with heroin possession following a traffic stop last week, police said.

William L. Opdyke Jr., 53, of Wall, was stopped on Old Mill Road around 4:30 p.m. July 8. He was charged with possession of 13 bags of heroin by Detectives Sean O’Halloran and Chris Scerbo, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said in a release.

Opdyke was also charged with talking on a cellular telephone while driving, expired registration, failure to maintain a lane and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, Pomphrey said.

Opdyke was released pending a court date, he said.
