Wall Police To Collect Unwanted Medications

National program to collect and dispose of unwanted or unused medications to take place Sept. 29

Residents can drop off their unwanted or expired medications at the Wall Police headquarters building, 2700 Allaire Rd., on Saturday, Sept. 29 as the department participates in the national “Operation Take Back’’ initiative.

Residents can drop off those medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and police will dispose of them, preventing them from getting in the hands of children or drug traffickers, Sgt. Erik Ertle said.

Nationally, the Drug Enforcement Agency, which sponsors the program that has collected more than 794 tons of medications over four “Take Back’’ initiatives. In New Jersey, the most recent event, held in April, collected more than 16,000 pounds of medications, Ertle said.
