Wall Police To Hold Medication Drop-Off Program

Residents can drop off unused, expired and unwanted meds no questions asked

The Wall Township Police Department is scheduled to accept unused, unwanted or expired medication later this month, authorities said.

The "Operation Take Back'' is a national program run by the Drug Enforcement Agency through local police departments, giving residents an opportunity to dispose of their unused medication safely, according to Lt. Chris Tango.

Wall Township Police will be accepting medications, no questions asked, on Saturday, April 27 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at police heaquarters, 2700 Allaire Road.

Police ask that residents dropping off unused medication remove labels or any other identifying marks before bringing them to police headquarters.

The medications will be taken to a central drop-off point in Monmouth County, where the DEA will pick them up and dispose of them safely.

The annual program collects hundreds of bottles of unused medications, Tango said. Last year, township police collected three 30-gallon garbage bags to be disposed of.

"It gives people a chance to get rid of the medications they're not using knowing that they're going to be disposed of safely,'' Tango said.
