Woman Charged In Crash That Killed Youth Coach

David "Tiny" Pisarcik killed in May crash in Neptune City

The woman who police say is responsible for the traffic collision that killed a popular Wall Township youth football coach has been jailed on charges of vehicular homicide, authorities said Wednesday.

Madeline Rodriguez, 50, of Neptune City, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a motor vehicle collision that occurred in May in Neptune City that killed David Pisarcik, according to a release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Rodriguez surrendered before the Honorable Thomas F. Scully, who set bail at $115,000 cash bail. Rodriguez also must surrender her driver’s license, the release says.

Around 11:23 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, Rodriguez was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa southbound on Route 35 in Neptune City. Pisarcik was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle northbound. Rodriguez turned left onto Fourth Avenue without properly yielding. Pisarcik was thrown from his motorcycle after crashing into Rodriguez’s vehicle, the release says.

Pisarcik was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he was pronounced dead at 12:09 p.m.

Rodriguez’s blood alcohol level was substantially above the .08 legal limit. Rodriguez was previously charged with motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to yield at an intersection and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, the release says.

The vehicular homicide charge, a second-degree crime, carries a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison, subject to the No Early Release Act. She will have to serve 85% of her sentence before she is eligible for parole, the release says.
