'Bridgegate' Scandal Sinks Christie In NBC Presidential Election Poll

NBC shows former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton leads Gov. Chris Christie by 13 points in 2016 presidential election survey

Gov. Chris Christie may still be popular in New Jersey, but the "Bridgegate" scandal appears to have eroded the nation's faith in his leadership.

An NBC-Marist poll that showed a neck-and-neck race a month ago now shows that Democrat Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and first lady, leading Christie, a Republican, by 13 points.

Neither potential candidate has declared their intentions yet, but polls show that both are considered the respective front-runners for the presidential nomination of their political parties.

NBC pointed out that a third of those surveyed believe Christie is lying about his role in the scheme to close Fort Lee lanes to the George Washington Bridge as a form of political retribution.
