Candidates Sought For Farmingdale Council

Must be Borough resident

Following the by all members of the Farmingdale Borough Council, the Department of Community Affairs and the office of Gov. Chris Christie has been given the task of filling the empty seats on the dais. 

On Thursday evening Christie's office sent out a press release looking for candidates to fill the five vacant seats. By state statute the governor's office and the DCA are now taking applications from borough residents to fill the seats in order to complete the council. 

Those Farmingdale residents interested in applying must consent to a background check that includes a criminal history check, credit history, judgements and driving record according to the press release. They must also be registered to vote in the borough.

Those interested should submit a letter of interest, resume and a questionnaire on the DCA's website no later than Aug. 24 with Farmingdale in the subject line. The questionnaire and background check will be confidential but resumes and letters of interest will avaialbe upon request and appointment.

In addition to Mayor Jay Morgan the council has one member following the of Richard Geffken this week at Borough Hall.
