Former Mayor Remembered At Committee Meeting

Frank P. Addonizio honored with moment of silence

Former mayor Frank P. Addonizio was remembered with a moment of silence at Wednesday's Township Committee meeting.

Addonizio, a longtime Wall Township Committeeman and former mayor, died Feb. 25 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. .

Following the flag salute, the committee takes a moment of silence. Sometimes that is dedicated to a person or group of people -- like military personnel stationed overseas. Mayor Jeffrey Foster dedicated Wednesday's moment of silence to honor the former longtime committeeman.

Addonizio served on the Wall Township Committee from 1994 to 2002 and served in numerous capacities as a committeeman, deputy mayor and mayor – a post which he held in 1996, 1997 and 2001. Addonizio also was a member of the Board of Adjustment and the Planning Board for several years.

Addonizio’s son, Ralph, currently serves on the . Ralph’s wife, Hilary, is a teacher in the Wall Township School District and an active community volunteer.

"He loved politics, but he loved it for the reason that he wanted to serve those people in this community and he worked very hard at it,'' Committeman George Newberry said later in the meeting. "We truly lost a person that did a lot for Wall Township and has left a memory that won't disappear anytime soon."
