Glimmer Glass Bridge Will Be Closed Tuesday

Repairs expected to last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Glimmer Glass Bridge that connects Manasquan and Brielle by Fisk Avenue is scheduled to be closed for maintenance repairs Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., officials said.

The Monmouth County Division of Bridges will close the roadway after morning rush-hour and plans to reopen the bridge in time for the evening commute, according to a release by county officials.

The closure will not affect marine traffic, the release says.

“Monmouth County prides itself on safety, especially with its movable bridges,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Arnone, liaison to the county’s Department of Public Works and Engineering, in the release. “This work must be done and we are working to limit the inconvenience.”

County officials said they hope the repair work schedule will cause "limited disruption" to most travelers.
