Governing Bodies Ready For Organization Meetings

Area governing bodies will ready for the coming year at organization meetings set for the first week of January.

In Belmar, the Borough council is scheduled to hold its organization meeting on Jan. 4 at 12 p.m.

The council will swear in Democratic incumbent Councilman Brian Magovern to another three-year term following his win in the November general election.

Magovern’s running mate, Janice Blackburn also will be sworn in for her first three-year term.

The meeting will be held at borough hall, 601 Main St.

In Wall, the Township Committee is scheduled to hold its organization meeting on Jan 2 where a new mayor will be sworn in and incumbent Republicans Clinton Hoffman and Jeffrey Foster will be sworn in for three-year terms. Hoffman and Foster were unchallenged for their seats in the last election.

The mayor position is elected from among council members and is a one-year term.

The organization meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at town hall, 2700  Allaire Rd.
