Oxley Nominated For Superior Court Judgeship
Former Wall municipal attorney and Monmouth County Sheriff may become judge
Gov. Chris Christie has nominated former Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph Oxley for a Superior Court judgeship, according to a release.
Oxley, of Middletown, was also nominated for the judgeship in the 215th legislative session, but lawmakers never voted on the appointments before the session ended.
Christie’s nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.

Oxley served as Monmouth County Sheriff from 1996 to 2007. Prior to his stint as sheriff, he served on the Middletown Township Committee. In 2008, he was elected to a two-year term as head of the Monmouth County Republican Party. He was also a one-time assistant prosecutor in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Oxley, a lawyer, served as Wall Township municipal attorney until December, when he was replaced by state Assemblyman Sean Kean.
