Two Shine On Planning Board Monday

Two major application cancel on abbreviated panel meeting

It was the Planning Board meeting that nearly wasn’t on Monday as two of the three applications scheduled for hearings took a pass.

The big one, put forth by a company calling itself ASP Wall LLC, proposed an 80,000-square-foot warehouse building and six 15,000-square-foot buildings — a total of 170,000 square feet of buildings — along with associated parking, drainage and utility facilities on a tract at Belmar Boulevard and Birdsall Road. A portion of the property is located in Howell.

But ASP canceled. No reason was given. Another hearing would be set at some time in the future, officials said. But no date was set Monday.

The second, which proposes myriad renovations and construction to the office park known as Valley Park West – 2517-2519 Route 35 - including construction of a banquet facility, outdoor bar and patio spaces, also gave the meeting a miss.

After a 20-minute presentation by representatives of Sea Girt Center – Ocean Road and Route 35 – the board voted to allow the shopping complex to install signs for its stores on the underside of the building’s overhang and allow one store – The Sak – to erect a second sign for that business.
