All candidates for Board of Education are invited to a “Meet The Candidates’’ night on Tuesday.
The event, open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Intermediate School cafeteria.
There are three, three-year terms up for grabs and one, one-year term available in the Nov. 6 election. Ten candidates have filed to run, making this year’s election one of the biggest in memory.
Running unopposed for the three-year terms are Kenneth J. Dioguardi, 2315 Orchard Crest Blvd., Robin Zawodniak, 1439 Garrett Dr., and Board President John Tavis, 1610 Holly Blvd. — the only incumbent running this year.
Incumbent board members Deidre Kukucka and Melissa Peters are not seeking re-election.
Zawodniak was recently appointed to fill the seat of former longtime board member Laurie Cannon, who unexpectedly resigned in August. Zawodniak’s temporary appointment to Cannon’s seat lasts until January, when she will take her full, three-year term.
Running for the remaining one-year portion of Cannon’s term are:
Kristen Casais, 1401 Madison Ave.; Timothy J. Farrell, 1601 Walton Way; Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 1700 M St.; Mary Catherine McCarthy Spellman, 1993 Campbell Rd.; Joseph V. Stillo, 2313 Orchard Crest Blvd; Jacqueline Szenzenstein, 1402 Crabapple Dr. and William S. Wood Jr., 3205 Brighton Ave.
