VIDEO: Cari Fletcher's Group "Lakoda Rayne" Rocks Out On X Factor

Narrowly escaping elimination, group returns on "Rock Week"

Lakoda Rayne, featuring singer Cari Fletcher, put their own spin on another Fleetwood Mac tune on X Factor Wednesday, with mixed reviews from the show's judges.

Lakoda Rayne performed "Go Your Own Way,'' from the 70s supergroup live on stage in Los Angeles and carried nationwide on network television. Following the song, the judges weighed in with their opinons. Judge L.A. Reid was first.

"I'm happy to see that this was the first time I've seen you have fun,'' Reid said. "Does it measure up? Do you have what it takes to be global superstars?''

Before he had a chance to continue, Fletcher, a 17-year-old senior at Wall High, answered, emphatically, for him: "We definitely do,'' she said.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger said that the group has found its niche.

"I think you've found your own lane,'' Scherzinger said. "Country rock.''

Typically, Simon Cowell had the harshest words for Lakoda Rayne.

"Overall, I think it was a complete mess, if you want my honest opinion,'' Cowell said. "I hope that America sticks with you because I think a great performance is in you.''

Paula Abdul, the group's mentor, had nothing but praise.

"These girls have earned the right to be here on this stage,'' Abdul said. "There is a space for these girls that was once owned by the Dixie Chicks and I think these girls can own that space too.''

Audience voting, which is open from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. tonight, will decide if the group continues in the competition.

The group was nearly eliminated from the competition last week after receiving among the lowest number of audience votes from their performance of Keith Urban's hit "Somebody like you.''

The group was forced into an impromptu "sing-off'' with another group and was chosen by the judges to continue in this week's competition. The grand prize of the singing competition is a $5 million recording contract and a starring role in a Pepsi commercial to be shown on next year's Super Bowl.

The girls sang the Jordin Sparks tune "No Air,'' in the sing-off. The performance was not flawless and the girls' nerves were apparent.

Each judge weighed in. L.A. Reid went for Fletcher's group. Nicole Scherzinger did as well. Judge Paula Abdul, who mentored both Lakoda Rayne and the other group in the sing-off, at first refused to vote, then, under pressure, voted against Lakoda Rayne.

Simon Cowell, however, pulled the group from the brink with the deciding vote.
