Superintendents, Principals and other school administrators are invited to a free seminar on CPC’s Youth Enrichment Service on April 1, 2011 at CPC's Helen Herrmann Counseling Center at 270 Highway 35 in Red Bank from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This school-based support service provides a range of innovative services to Middle School & High School students. This seminar will address:

  • Expanding Access for Schools
  • Innovative Programs & Services
  • Cost-Effective Alternatives
  • Types of Services Provided (on-site treatment, psychiatric evaluations, fit to return to school evaluations, evening family groups, school staff training, Employee Assistance Programs for school staff)

Depression, stress, anxiety, bullying & cyber bullying, suicidal thoughts —  these are realities for many teenagers today. Budget cuts, growing caseloads, and escalating problems —  these are realities for many schools. CPC offers an innovative program that helps students, school social workers and administrators solve these problems.

  • About 70 percent of teens suffer from more than a single episode of depression before the age of 18, and around 20 to 40 percent of teens experience more than one episode in two years.
  • Nearly 30 percent of teens suffering from depression cultivate substance abuse problems.
  • Statistics also reveal that nearly 1 in every 5 teenagers harbor suicidal thoughts; 1 in every 6 teenagers actually plan their suicide; and more than 1 in 12 teenagers attempt suicide in any given year.
  • Also, close to 8 out of 10 teenagers who attempt or commit suicide seek some kind of help prior to committing suicide.

These statistics are extremely alarming. With numbers continuing to escalate, there is a clear need to extend help to depressed teens and deal with these worrying issues.
