Knights Roundup: Ice Hockey, Girls Basketball Steady

The Wall ice hockey team has moved into second place in the Shore Conference B Division after beating rival Freehold Township 5-3 on Wednesday. The victory followed a 4-2 loss to Point Pleasant Boro late last week. Wall (6-3-1) trails only Toms River North in the division race.
In girls basketball, the Knights beat Lakewood on Tuesday, 49-30, in their first action since the winter break. During the break Wall defeated Southern, 44-24, and Toms River North, 48-29, in the consolation round of the WOBM Christmas Classic. Kelsey Thomas led Wall with four 3-pointers in the win over TR North and finished with 17 points as the Knights dominated the Mariners in the first half, outscoring them 31-13.
In boys basketball, the Knights remained winless after falling to Lakewood on Tuesday, 37-25. Derek Gardner and Jordan Petitta each had 8 points for Wall. Gardner had 18 points in a 61-47 loss to Red Bank Catholic in the consolation round of the WOBM Christmas Classic in Toms River during the winter break.

On the wrestling mats, Wall cruised to a win over Lakewood, 48-10, finishing the match with five straight wins. A.J. Romanelli got a pin at 138 pounds, followed by a major decision from Solomon Cobbs at 145. Steve Biserta followed with a pin at 152, anchoring the streak for the Knights, who are in third place in Class C Central. Wall, which places two wrestlers in the finals at the Mustang Classic, faces Point Boro on Saturday.
