REMINDER: School District Calls Storm Meeting

Changes to the school calendar to be discussed at Tuesday, Nov. 13, meeting

The school district has scheduled an open public forum on Tuesday to discuss changes to the district's schedule prompted by two weeks of school closings following the recent storms, school officials said.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Intermediate School auditorium. The Board of Education meeting scheduled for that same night, has been put off until Nov. 20, according to a message from schools Superintendent Daniel Simon.

The meeting is intended to dicuss the impact of the recent storms, the district's communication and changes to the school calendar, Simon said.

Those attending the meeting are enouraged to bring a donation to families in need. The Wall teachers' union is continuing to collect cleaning supplies, batteries, food and water, Simon said.

Other immediate changes to the school calendar, decided at a Wednesday meeting of school district administration are:

  • The end of the first marking period, scheduled for Nov. 2, has been extended to Nov. 16.
  • Elementary school parent-teacher conferences, originally scheduled for next week, have been postponed until a later date that will be advertised upon Board of Education approval.  Consequently, the half days scheduled for Nov. 12, 13, 15, and 16 will instead be full school days.
