Wall Schools Not Using Extra State Aid This Year

The Wall Township School district will not use a windfall of state aid to reduce the property tax burden this year, according to the state Department of Education.

The district is in the majority of Monmouth County districts that will apply the additional state aid announced last week to next year's tax levy. Only Mansaquan and Spring Lake Heights reported that they will use the money to offset this year's school tax.

Statewide, only 20 districts are using the money against this year's tax levies, state figures show.

Wall district officials did not respond to a request for comment earlier this week about when the district would use the state aid.

The district will receive an additional $600,516 in state aid on top of the , bringing Wall’s total state aid figure to $3,178,023. That’s $1,201,032 more in aid than last year, according to figures released by Gov. Chris Christie’s office.
