Enduro Races Sunday At Wall Stadium

Two weeks before the official season kick-off, Enduro races set

The Tax Evaders 150 is slated to take place at Wall Stadium on Sunday -- one of three Enduro races set two weeks ahead of the official season opener for the Route 34 auto race track.

The Scott Dunn Auto Service Asphalt Series is set to continue at the stadium beginning at 1 p.m. The "Evaders'' will race in Big Car and Small car features. A Ladies Division also will hold a 25-lap event, track spokesman Jeff Gravatt said.

Some of the Big Car competitors registered for the Evaders race include Richard Petey and Howie Bott, Sport Modified competitor Scott Riggleman, along with experienced Enduro racers Felix Ciatarrelli, Ned Coolbaugh, and Anthony Bell, Gravatt said.

The Dunn Racing Team is prepared for the small car Enduro showdown along with drivers Shannon Mongeau and Howard Effron, among others, Gravatt said.

Tickets for the April 15th races are $10. Children under 12 are $5.

Wall Stadium officially opens for its summer series of weekend races April 28.

Sunday's races are the third in the series. There have been no repeat winners. Dan Birdsall and Mike Wahl have enjoyed Small Car Enduro wins thus far in 2012, while Howie Bott and Rob Longo have been the early season’s Big Car winners. Linsey Rummel and Tiffany Olejnik have each emerged victorious this season in Ladies’ Division action.

Enduro races are run with stock vehicles with all stock components in races lasting between 100 and 200 laps. The vehicles are "off the street,'' as opposed to a typical race car which is not street-legal.  The concept allows both seasoned drivers and rank amateurs the opportunity to race inexpensively, Gravatt said.
