Okerson Wins Garden State Classic
Freehold auto racer take the checkered flag at the prestigious race
Freehold racer Chas Okerson took the checkered flag at the prestigious Garden State Classic at Wall Stadium Saturday, track officials said.
Okerson fought off Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Howell’s Jimmy Blewett in a dogfight near the end of the 125-lap race, said Jeff Gravatt, track spokesman.
“I think those guys right behind me near the end may have used up their cars getting through the pack and that helped me a lot,’’ Okerson said after the race.

Wall Stadium on Saturday, July 7, is scheduled to hold “Red, White and Blue Night,” where fans wearing red, while and blue will get a discount on grandstand seating, Gravatt said.
Modifieds, Sportsman Cars, Legend Cars, Street Stocks and Factory Stocks will all race Saturday. The track will also debut the new 4-Cylinder class, Gravatt said.
