North Wall Loses A Heartbreaker in 10 Innings

North Wall drops first tournament game to Quincy, Mass.

The North Wall Little League all-star state championship team lost a heartbreaker to Quincy, Mass., in 10 innings today at the Eastern Regional tournament.

The final score was 8-7. The game, which was called after eight innings on Sunday when rain forced a long delay, resumed Monday at 9 a.m.

Wall was knotted with Quincy, Mass., squad at five apiece when play resumed at Micheal J. Tighe Park in Freehold. Each squad added two runs in the 9th inning, sending the game to extra innings.

Quincy was able to squeek out the winning run in the top of the 10th and Wall was unable to answer.

This is North Wall’s first loss in the double-elimination tournament and the first since sweeping through to their state championshop. It is North Wall's second straight trip to the Eastern Regional tournament and its third in the last four seasons.

The action continues Monday, as North Wall is scheduled to face Burlington, Conn. at 10:30 a.m.
