Township Man Sinks Hole-In-One At Amateur Golf Tourney

Wall man was one of two golfers to ace the 17th hole in the same round on the same day.

A Wall Township man was one of two people who sunk a hole-in-one at an amateur golf tournament in South Carolina.

John Lohnes hit a hole-in-one an the 115-yard 17th hole of the Farmstead Golf Links during the World Amateur Handicap Championship, held in Myrtle Beach Aug. 26-30, according to a South Carolina news site.

Lohnes was one of two players who achieved the rare feat on the same hole, according to The Sun News.

Clyde Rowe, 61, of Potomac, Md., also sunk a hole-in-one minutes before on the same hole.

But because each man aced the 17th hole, there was no cash payout, as there normally would be for the rare event, The Sun News said.
