Opening night at the venerable Wall institution is underway

UPDATE: 10:01: #18 car takes the lead from Whitey Miller.

UPDATE 9:58: After a yellow, Whitey Miller retains the lead, with  Todd Pilla, of Beachwood, in second position and challenging.

UPDATE: Whitey Miller, of Jamesburg, in the #27 car takes the early lead.

UPDATE: Factory Stock last race as many racing fans begin to pack up and leave following the modified race. The factory stock race will feature 19 cars for the 25-lap event.

UPDATE 9:45: Okerson, of Freehold, maintains command, holding off Sesely, but just barely, through the checkered flag. The 9th career win in the Modified for Okerson.

UPDATE 9:43 p.m.: With 10 laps to go Okerson and Sesely continue to battle for the lead position, with Sesely right on the bumper of Okerson's 99 car.

UPDATE 9:41: Okerson and Sesely continue to duel along as 15 laps remain in tonight's feature race.

UPDATE 9:34 p.m.: Anthony Sesely makes an inside move to pull into second, and is challenging Okerson  for the lead.

UPDATE 9:28: Yellow out after car goes spinning in turn one. Eleven laps down.

UPDATE 9:22 p.m.: Green flag and Chas Okerson of Freehold in first after a handful of laps.

UPDATE: Another lap, another yellow, as #30 goes for a long spin down the backstretch after being clipped.

UPDATE 9:13 p.m.: Yellow out after just one lap as cars tangle and it two appear to be having difficulty with their vehicles.

UPDATE 9:06: The 40-lap modified race is coming up, as  cars file onto the track for their hot laps

UPDATE 9:03 p.m.: Jerry Stanzione, of Keansberg, in the #6 car takes the lead with only a handful left to go and holds into it into the checkered flag.

UPDATE 8:57: With five to go, a spinout causes another yellow as cars line up for another restart.

UPDATE 8:54 p.m.: Yellow flag because of debris on the track, stalls the race with less than 10 laps to go. Greg Miranda still in the lead as the green flag waves.

UPDATE 8:51 p.m. : Greg Miranda, of Hazlet, takes the lead with less than half the race left.

UPDATE 8:45 p.m.: Street Stocks are taking their hot laps before the 25-lap race to start in a few minutes.

UPDATE 8:40: Kevin Davison, of Howell, takes the opening night win in the Sportsman division. That's career win #8.

UPDATE 8:35 p.m.: #50 Robert Sutphin of Brick spins out, bringing another yellow.

UPDATE 8:28 p.m.:  With 14 laps complete Kevin Davison leads.

UPDATE 8:25 p.m.:  Shawna Ingraham, 16-year-old Monsignor Donovan High School student, goes hard into the rail on the front stretch, putting an end to her debut race.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: After 15 laps, Davison in car #48 holds the lead as drivers line up for another restart and Davidson is check for possible leaking.

UPDATE 8:13 p.m.: Yellow flag as there's a spinout in turn two. Cars are lining up for restart.

UPDATE 8:10 p.m.:  Kevin Davison, of Howell, with a move down the backstretch, takes over the lead spot, after eight laps.

UPDATE 8:07 p.m.: Green Flag.

UPDATE 8:04 p.m.: The Sportsman cars, much akin to the Modifieds, are taking their hot laps now before their 25-lap race.

UPDATE 8:00 p.m.: Mark Tischler, in car zero takes the checkered for career win #5 in the Legends, and his 8th career win at Wall Stadium.

UPDATE 7:52 p.m. Mark  Tischler, of Martinsville, leads with just two laps left.

UPDATE: 7:50 p.m.: Yellow flag on close duel for third spot causes a collision, knocking two cars out of the top five.

UPDATE 7:49 p.m. : After 12 laps, its Keven Nowak of Medford NY leads the pack in car 53.

UPDATE 7:46 p.m.:  Before the first lap is finished, two cars collide, drawing the yellow flag.

Drivers are lining up again.

And they're off.

Jeff Gravatt, Wall Stadium spokesman, has just announced the first of five main events is about to start. The Legend cars will go 25 laps around the 1/3-mile oval, beginning in just seconds. 

Hot laps have just completed and the cars are lining up in their starting position.
