Belmar Boardwalk Featured on 'Tales of the Jersey Shore'

Watch an episode about local boardwalks.

Did you ever wonder why the boardwalks we take for granted were invented? They come in all sizes and are made of a variety of materials.

The smallest is 200 feet and the granddaddy is the five-mile Atlantic City walkway.

A Tales of the Jersey Shore episode called "On the Boards" tells the stories of the NJ boardwalks from the first ones that were small portable planks to permanent amusement parks by the sea. The show even features the Belmar boardwalk lost by SuperStorm Sandy just a month after the show was broadcast.

Numerous interviews with town officials and the authors of ” The Beach Bums’s Guide to the Boardwalks of New Jersey.” Ghost walkways or ” lost boardwalks” are discussed during this exciting episode. See more here
